EXPLORING ATHENS IN 1 DAY
That's hello in Greek! There is so much to see and do in Athens, Greece! While visiting Athens, we had ONE day (I know, like no time) to explore the ancient city and make the most of our vacation. When booking our trip we wanted beaches with turquoise water and donkeys (mostly just me. . .the donkey part 😁). But we knew if we skipped Athens we would regret it and it's basically a must to see The Acropolis. I am so so happy we went! Athens is beautiful and has so much character and life. The people are truly the sweetest and beyond helpful with giving directions or suggesting must-dos.
Where to stay in Athens:
We stayed at this Airbnb . Dimi and Luca (the hosts), are so kind and the apartment is super cute + very clean. It is located in prime location- close to yummy restaurants and walking distance of everything.
The Acropolis: DUH. It is located at the top of this massive hill but it is extremely easy to get up to. Kye and I got there around 8:30am to beat the rush (it opens at 8am). We also went late September so that helps a lot with the crowds. It is about a 15 minute walk up on a stone walkway. The pictures don't even do a fraction of the size of it. It is HUGE! Absolutely spectacular and you have to do it.
Then after exploring the Acropolis grab some lunch/breakfast in Old Town. About a 10 minute walk from Acropolis. Tons and tons of restaurants and amazing jewelry (seriously I splurged).
The feta cheese is legit to die for!!
1896 Summer Olympics stadium: This was pretty neat and surreal to check out. You must go to the middle of the oval and climb all the steps to the very top to actually take in how huge it is.
This pretty much summed up our day! Did all the most dos and once again I am SO happy we went, enough that Kye and I will be back someday.
